Angela was born in 1922, lived almost her entire life in Evansville, and graduated from J.C. McKenna High School in 1939, and her family believes that was the first High School Class to graduate from that “new” building
Musically gifted as evidenced at the young age of 9 by winning a piano in a contest sponsored by WCLO Janesville BC Club for after school children; she had been taking lessons less than a year, but was chosen as winner out of 200 contestants
College Career
Earned a Bachelor of Music degree in 1945 and a Master of Music degree in 1946 at the University of Wisconsin–Madison
Additional Accomplishments
Taught piano, directed church choirs and served as the organist
Taught public school, directed with J. Peter Shaw for the first decade of Evansville High School musicals, played all the music for the shows on the organ and accompanied students for solo and ensemble contests
Angela loved “the fun and freedom of the jazz genre” and played in dinner clubs with a jazz trio or as a solo act for many years
Performed for various community functions and was one of first recipients of the Evansville Community Partnership’s Cornerstone of the Community award
